Can I be allergic to acrylic ?

Today me cl needed to paint a kite or a lantern using acrylic paint. I do not do this everyday. When I got home, I noticed that my hand(opposite side of palm) had these red spots on it. It hurts and it kinda burns. I'm guessing that I'm allergic to paint but I'm not sure if someone CAN be allergic to paint.
