Are they any legitimate experts on Vampire mythology?

My high school newspaper has decided to capitalize on the Twilight Saga phenomenon and has several reporters doing articles on vampire's. Mine is the birth of the vampire. Where it all started, and how, that type of stuff. I have access to a "vampires encyclopedia," but my editor wants quotes. There have to be people in the world, currently alive and that I can contact via e-mail, who have studied legitimately the history of vampires and their mythology. Can anyone suggest to me such people?
