What is the percentage of single American adults?

Basically, I'm trying to figure out how strange I really am. I'd rather not have any sort of relationships with people, but those I've brought this up to just give me a condescending "knowing" look and say that I'll find someone someday. Well, I don't want to find anyone, and I was wondering how many people out there ended up single, through choice or cirstance?
