Media player type?

I have tried to download music files from Limewire. MP3 files play ok but wma files will not play. I have Windows media 9 installed on my machine. Any one with suggestions as to how I can download wma files and play them. All files whether MP3 or wma appear in the downloaded music section.I have limited computer knowledge. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
